Dear Neighbors,

I am excited to share that I am running to represent you as your Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner! After many years of calling this neighborhood home, I feel deeply connected to the people, places, and values that make Chevy Chase special— and if you know me, you know that when there is a need, I am usually one of the first people to raise my hand, pitch in, and help make things happen.

Like many of you, I wear a lot of hats. I am a Lafayette mom, a neighbor, a volunteer, and a working professional who cares deeply about the place where my family is growing up. These roles have given me a front-row seat to what makes our neighborhood wonderful: our schools, our parks, our local businesses, our community traditions, our multi-generational neighborhood, and the incredible people who show up for one another.

I’ve also worked across public and private sectors and I know that progress rarely comes from everyone agreeing on everything—it comes from creating space for people to be heard, finding common ground, and working together toward solutions. Our community deserves representatives who approach disagreements with civility, who listen before taking positions, and who remember that public service is about serving neighbors and supporting the community, for today and the future. I also believe we can do a better job making the work of the ANC accessible to more residents. Many of us want to participate—we just need opportunities that fit into our lives.

I am running because I believe our community deserves thoughtful leadership, open communication, and an ANC that reflects the best of who we are: neighbors who care, listen, and work together. I would be honored to earn your support and the opportunity to serve.

Warmly,

Shannon

P.S. I cannot thank enough all of the neighbors, friends, colleagues, civic leaders, and others who have suggested that I take this leap. I am so humbled by your confidence and so appreciative of your generosity of time and support! Thank you!

It's Time to Elect a New Voice this November.
